RETIREMENT CELEBRATION

Clayton Park Conference Centre has recently shared in the retirement celebrations of two of our long-standing customers.

Sue Styles and Phil Wood have been organising and attending meetings at Clayton Park for well over 10 years each.   They have both retired as senior members of the Secondary Schools Advisory Team with Lancashire County Council and their final meeting held at the Conference Centre ended with a celebration party.

The team at Clayton Park made retirement cakes for the pair.   Phil was delighted with his guitar cake, especially designed to acknowledge his musical talents.

Sue thanked all the team at Clayton Park saying:

“Thank you all so much for everything that you have done.  I have appreciated beyond measure your excellent service and support provided over the years.”

The management team at Clayton Park Conference Centre said a sad goodbye to Sue and Phil, with best wishes for a happy and enjoyable retirement.

MAY THE FOURTH - BE WITH YOU

Clayton Park Conference Centre was the venue for a Star Wars Fan Fun Day held appropriately on May the fourth.

Nearly 400 visitors attended the family event at the bank holiday weekend.  Surprised drivers were greeted by Storm Troupers on traffic control duty and directing parking.  Once inside, visitors were able to meet a host of Star War characters and there were plenty of photo opportunities.

The guest of honor was Kenny Baker who played R2-D2 in the films.  Kenny’s attendance was in doubt due to his recent illness, so fans were especially surprised when he showed up on the day.  Fans queued to meet Kenny as he signed autographs and posed for photographs.

There were activities for children including a fancy dress competition and stall holders selling Star Wars merchandise were kept busy throughout the day.  Clayton Park Conference Centre provided the refreshments and manager, Celia Duxbury, was delighted when “Ewan McGregor”  joined the queue for a cup of tea and home made scone.

Event oganiser, Neil Livesey, was delighted with attendance at the event and thanked staff at Clayton Park for their help and support in making the day such a success.
